Mumbling into Black Holes

Kim captures the vulnerability felt when one finds that words can’t be found.

My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Music Prompt #47: “Take Courage” by Andrew Bird

When words begin to crumble,

Stale cake on your tongue,

Thoughts fossilise and tumble

Into back holes, one by one.

Fingers fly and fumble,

Trying to catch words

That escape like mumbles

And fly away like birds.

Eyes still see, heart still beats

Beneath thinning skin and bone.

Life’s night is slowly falling –

Take courage,

You are not alone.
